Raleigh City Farm

Circle mission:

The mission of the Farmland Preservation Circle is to partner with farmers and the community to support farm viability. Members of the circle collaborate on policies and programs related to supporting Wake County farmers and agriculture.

Current Activities

  • Creating a database of Wake County farms

  • Attending town hall meetings to understand zoning policy and decision-making and protect local farmland from overdevelopment

  • Research and understand national, regional, and local strategies to establish ordinances that incentivize small-scale farming

  • Connecting farmers to resources, training, and strategic planning

Farmer Profiles

In preparation for the 2017 Eastern Triangle farm Tour, the Farm Advocacy Circle wrote a series of articles which highlighted Wake County Framers. The following farms were highlighted: Sweet Peas Urban Garden, Well Fed Community Garden, Chickcharney FarmOld Milburnie Farm, Ninja Cow Farm, and Hilltop Farm

Strategic Planning

From August to November 2017, the farm Advocacy Circle went through a strategic planning process with facilitation through Community Food Strategies. This process allowed the circle to create an updated mission statement and project goals.
