circle Purpose:

This new circle is for managers of community gardens or those starting a garden / hoping to improve the size, impact, or sustainability of their gardens. In this circle, members can:

  • share best practices and resources

  • find sources of funding

  • make connections with peers and grow their knowledge and impact

This circle provides access to Wake County Master Gardeners and is run by Wake County Cooperative Extension’s Horticulture Agent, providing a wealth of experience.

Current Activities

  • OPEN NOW (February 2-March 15, 2024): Communal Garden Grants

    • $30,000 of funds are available this year to help start and expand community gardens in low-income areas in Wake County, especially in areas with high numbers of residents for whom transportation barriers cause undue hardship in accessing fresh, nutritious foods. Any groups with secured land in Wake County that want to start or expand a communal garden are welcome to apply for funding. Application and garden planning support is available!
